We wanted to shine a spotlight on three female trailblazers who have made incredible strides in their respective fields. These women have not only broken barriers but also paved the way for others to follow.
One of the best books we’ve read is ‘Lean In’ by Sheryl Sandberg. Known for her role as the former Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, Sandberg played a pivotal role in scaling the company, driving its advertising model, and expanding its global reach. Her book encourages women to pursue their ambitions and tackle challenges in the work-place. For those with occasional imposter syndrome, her book is a must-read!
We’re sure you’ve all heard of the brand Nasty Gal - an online fashion retailer that started as an eBay store selling vintage clothing. This was the brainchild of Sophia Amoruso, the ultimate GirlBoss. Her memoir talks about how her journey wasn’t conventional and shows how you don’t need to fit into a particular mould to success.
And lastly, how could we write a blog about females in marketing without talking about Mary Wells Lawrence. She made history by becoming the first woman to run a major advertising agency, Wells Rich Greene, which she founded in 1966. One of her most famous campaigns was ‘Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz’ for Alka Seltzer, encouraging consumers to take two tablets instead of one, and therefore boosting sales.
So, here’s to all the amazing females in business and marketing. Be sure to celebrate each other, lift each other and support each other. Keep pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and paving the way for the next generation of women to thrive.
